Design starts with inclusion
Design is all about shaping the way your audience sees and is seen. Inclusive design is about designing with human difference in mind. When we start our design thinking process with remembering that everyone is unique, we create a safe space for all users to feel seen and supported. The way you draw people- including the color you use, is no different.
Inclusion cannot be met without representation.
As our brand has evolved from the new identity launch in 2018, it became clear to me that the way in which we used color was unintentionally creating clear gaps in how we depicted diversity in our people illustrations. See a need, rise to meet the challenge.  In early 2022 I began conversations with leadership in both my marketing organization as well as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) leadership. Through a partnership of focus groups facilitated by DEI and a core design team, the goal is to create an entirely new palette to be used specifically for people illustrations that will  ensure
we are being authentic and intentional of a diverse audience.  This palette is set to launch by the end of 2022.
